Singer-composer-arranger Donny Hathaway is perhaps best known for his duets with singer Roberta Flack, but the body of solo work he left behind when he died in 1979 is part of the foundation of American soul music. Donny's contribution to American music went widely unsung until he was named as one of the 50 greatest voices in music across the world and across time by NPR. Donny's compositional skill and style, amazing piano skills, and unmatched vocal abilities prompted music producer Jerry Wexler to call Hathaway the third genius at Atlantic Records, along with Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles.
